From Analog to Digital

Starting by the new millennium, our generation has witnessed to incredibly rapid transformation of life from analog to digital. In this challenging transformation, we are trying to adapt ourselves not only into our new personal life but also to the new paradigm of architecture, construction & technology. In this challenge, one thing seems to me very constant, as one of my professors in the university says, “Quality is hidden in detail.”

Career development

I started to my career as an Architect / industrial designer with design & production of panel office furniture. I spent 4 years on this industry. Thanks to that, I experienced to work with various materials in details, especially, metal, wood, glass. Doing this, I advanced the detailing of those materials and explored how they meet & assembled. Moreover, i got an extensive knowledge about their manufacturing technologies & machinery used in mass production, which is very important.
On the other hand, short project realization terms gave me an opportunity to complete many projects that made me conscious of various challenges, diversities and different project phases from order to hand over.
In 2005 I went into work as project architect and started to deal with architectural & concept design, thanks to my 3D modelling and rendering skills. I improved my concept design skills and after a while, went further into design development & architectural detailing. Almost 2 years I dealt with architectural design & drafting, 3D visualizations and architectural detailing, that set a strong fundamental in my professional life.
In 2007 I moved to Russia and involved in landmark skyscraper project in Moscow City & large shopping mall in the downtown of Saint Petersburg.
In this period, I dealt with construction documentation, SMEP coordination, detailing & shop drawings, site supervision of contractors. These two huge projects with their diverse programs and extreme budgets helped me to understand the theme of design & project management of large-scale complex buildings. Area of those two projects was over 550000 sqm GBA in total. It was a stunning experience compacted into 4 years only. Towards the end of this 4-year period I started to manage inhouse design team comprising architects & engineers up to ten people.
In 2011, I was appointed to Azerbaijan as design manager and involved in the foundation of new branch office of Renaissance with three people whom we worked with previously. I set up a design team and BIM infrastructure for this new branch office based on local staff. After qualifying & orientating them in a short term, we started to produce designs in BIM environment. During this period, I also advanced contract negotiations & management of design contracts, design optimization & budgeting, refinement of details, BIM and finally management of design team up to 20-25 people comprising, architect & engineers.
In addition to those, I also involved in negotiations and meetings with the top managers & key people of investors, ministers, and global construction & design companies. Those were very essential & strategical to develop my career in business level, understanding global business, circumstances, and ethics. Key skills, I advanced in this period, are, design management, contract management, project management, top level meetings & negotiations, BIM realization, design & budget optimization, and staff management. Those skills helped me to be involved in several worldwide large-scale projects later. Experiencing the process of transforming great architecture into great buildings improved all my skills & professionalism which is not so easy to achieve with ordinary projects.
Throughout my career, I am mostly specialized in mixed-use projects, skyscrapers, retail shopping malls, resort & hospitality, and residential projects. Nowadays, I am concentrated on BIM / CSI synchronization and standardization of the building design considering environmental sustainability with the use of natural materials & resources.
